Drone Pilot ADS-B wasn't born in a boardroom. It was born in the field — out of real frustration, real risk, and a genuine need that nobody else was willing to fill.
A Problem Nobody Would Solve
My name is Tim Durham, and I have been flying with ADS-B for several years. For a significant part of my career I logged countless hours flying oil fields across the southeastern United States — areas with heavy low-altitude traffic from planes and helicopters that most people never think about. ADS-B was essential. It kept me safe and aware of what was sharing my airspace.
During those years I leaned on traditional EFB apps to get the job done. They were better than nothing — but only just. There was a lot left to be desired for a drone pilot trying to stay truly situationally aware.

I actually reached out directly to two of the most well-known EFB companies and asked them to make modifications better suited for drone pilots. Both declined. That was all the motivation I needed. If nobody else was going to build the right tool, we would.
Designed From the Ground Up
Development on Drone Pilot ADS-B started with a clear goal — build a situational awareness app specifically for drone pilots, not a repurposed manned aircraft tool. What happened next was something I didn't fully expect: as development progressed, it evolved far beyond just ADS-B awareness into a comprehensive situational awareness platform covering traffic, weather, obstacles, LAANC zones, TFRs, and more.
Every feature was driven by real-world experience. I knew from years in the field exactly what information a pilot needs — and exactly what was missing from every other solution on the market. Version 1 is purpose-built for drone pilots. Version 2 is already in the works for manned aircraft pilots, with a specific focus on VFR situational awareness — because that problem needs solving too.

Pilot ADS-B is a product of Midsouth Drone Services LLC, based just south of Memphis, Tennessee. Our parent company provides professional LiDAR services across the southeastern United States and sells commercial drone equipment at 3DMappingTools.com.
One thing I take particular pride in: we use every single piece of equipment we sell. That includes the Pilot ADS-B receiver. It has been thoroughly tested in real flight conditions and designed with one purpose — keeping pilots safe and aware. We don't sell anything we wouldn't stake our own safety on.
Our Mission
Our mission is straightforward — provide the best situational awareness app on the market. One that gives drone pilots every single piece of information they need to fly safely in increasingly busy airspace. And in the near future, extend that same commitment to VFR pilots who deserve better tools too. We are building for pilots everywhere, not just here in the United States, but all over the globe.
