Pilot questions
Does it work with ForeFlight?
Yes, out of the box. Every receiver we sell is unlocked to send standard GDL90 data to ForeFlight and any other EFB app that supports standard GDL90.
Is there a subscription?
Not from us. A receiver bought from us works with ForeFlight and other GDL90 EFB apps for as long as you own it, with nothing more to pay us. Your EFB app's own subscription, such as ForeFlight's, is separate and stays between you and its maker.
Will my iPad lose its internet connection?
No. The receiver joins your phone or tablet's Wi-Fi hotspot, so your device stays online for internet weather and other live services while ForeFlight receives traffic and FIS-B from the receiver.
Do you make an EFB app too?
Yes: pilotADSB EFB, our own electronic flight bag, coming to the App Store and Google Play. Every receiver bought from us includes a free first year of it, so you can try it alongside ForeFlight. After that it is $9.99/month or $99.99/year. ForeFlight and other EFBs keep working forever, with or without a subscription to our apps.
Do I get weather as well as traffic?
Yes. On the 978 UAT band the receiver picks up FIS-B, the free weather broadcast: radar, METARs, TAFs, PIREPs, TFRs and more. Like all FIS-B, you need to be within range of a ground station, which usually means being airborne.
Which model has AHRS?
The V4 with AHRS, and its Deluxe bundle. The Pressure Sensor models give GPS and pressure altitude but no attitude.
How is it powered, and for how long?
Any USB power bank or 5 V / 2.5 A supply. The Deluxe bundles include a 20,000 mAh battery that runs the receiver for about 8 hours.
Is this ADS-B Out?
No. It is an ADS-B In receiver: it shows you traffic and weather, and it does not transmit. It is a portable aid to situational awareness, not certified equipment and not for primary navigation.
I also fly drones. Does it work for that?
