Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the free trial?
One month, free. A payment method is required to start it, and you are not charged during the trial. Cancel any time before it ends and you pay nothing. If you don't cancel, your subscription starts automatically at $9.99/month or $99.99/year. The trial begins when you subscribe in Google Play or the App Store, not when you first open the app.
Does the app work with my existing Stratux?
The Drone Pilot ADS-B app will work with your Stratux receiver, but you must swap out the SD card and run our pilotADSBos instead. If you ever want to run the Stratux system again, just swap the SD cards back. To download and flash a microSD card, visit our BYOD page. You can also purchase a pre-flashed 8GB microSD card here in our store.
What Android version is required?
The app requires Android 8.0 (Oreo) or higher. For the best experience, we recommend Android 10 or higher. Bluetooth ADS-B requires Bluetooth 4.0 (BLE) support, which is standard on all modern Android devices.
Is there an iOS version?
Yes — Drone Pilot ADS-B is available for iPhone and iPad. Download it on the App Store. The Android version is on Google Play.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by the store you bought them from. On Android: open the Play Store app → tap your profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Drone Pilot ADS-B → Cancel. On iPhone or iPad: open Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → Drone Pilot ADS-B → Cancel Subscription. Your access continues until the end of the paid period.
Why am I not seeing any traffic?
First, confirm your receiver shows "ADS-B: BLE-XXXX" in the top bar of the app (see images below). After verifying you are connected, look at the bottom to see how many ADS-B aircraft are being detected. If you are connected and aircraft are detected, you may not be zoomed out far enough to view them.

If you are connected but no aircraft are detected at all, there may simply be no ADS-B-equipped aircraft within range. Visit ADSBexchange.com to verify live traffic in your area. If traffic shows on ADSBexchange.com but not in the app, try swapping your antennas. If you see traffic after swapping them, please contact us so we can get your diagnostic log file and help solve the issue. NOTE: Traffic count indoors will be substantially lower than outdoors and may even show zero.

Does it work without an internet connection?
ADS-B traffic works without internet — it comes directly from your receiver via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. However, the background map, weather radar, and TFR data require an internet connection. We recommend using your phone's cellular data or a mobile hotspot while flying.
